Managing Witnesses Tutorial
Managing witnesses in Apatosaurus is likely to be the most unfamiliar aspect for most users. Instead of storing witnesses to readings as plain text, each witness is instead a unique entry in the database. This enables several key features. However, this requires the user to enter witnesses into the database before they are available for assignment to readings. The entire K-Liste of Greek New Testament Manuscript Witnesses is available by default to all users. Additional witnesses must be supplied by the user.
Manage your witnesses by clicking on "Witnesses" in the Navigation Bar (only visible to users who are logged in). There are two tabs: one for viewing the witnesses available by default and another for adding your own witnesses.
1.
Browse the included witnesses by scrolling or using the search input to filter them. The filter will show witnesses that contain the input text. For example, both "P" and "45" will cause "P45" to be in the results.
2.
Switch to the "My Witnesses" tab to view your own witnesses. The witnesses and descriptions displayed here are only visible to the user who added them. Add a new witness by filling in the form. They can be edited at anytime.
3.
The witness descriptions are displayed when a user hovers their mouse over the witness in the apparatus.
